Guest post: Hex and Ginger on dot grid notebooks + giveaway [sponsored]

I’m handing over to one of my favourite stationery brands, Hex and Ginger*, for today’s post. Fellow stationery nerds will be excited to find a giveaway and exclusive discount code at the end of the post.

Hi, I’m Chantelle, owner of Hex and Ginger Stationery and today I’m blogging about dot gird paper!

How to use: Dot Grid paper

So first off I should start by saying there’s no official way of using the popular paper, but its uses should be celebrated!

Gaining popularity within the bullet journalling circles, dot grid paper is perfect for those of us who like to keep things looking neat and tidy – namely our handwriting! The equal spacing allows layouts to be designed accurately and keep things organised; a perfect example is this fabulous spread by Nicole aka Plansthatbloosom / instagram @plansthatblossom

The boxed compartments mean that things can be divided and everything can be put on a page.

How many dots you need is completely up to you and a good tip is to print some test pages off with different spacing and dots per page and practice!

Now, if you’re not a fan of the bullet journal lifestyle, it doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to join the dot grid party.

As I said previously, if you have handwriting that could be mistaken for hieroglyphics, equally spaced dots are your friend, and will also keep you from looking back at your notes and asking yourself “What does that say!”

The paper is perfect for practicing your handwriting, and great if you’re trying to teach others.

Keeping on the educational front, dot grid is perfect for anyone doing any type of Geometry (loud groans) – you can’t draw a parallelogram wrong if you’ve got a set of trusted dots to help you out, right?

Myself personally, I use dot grid for something else completely. A little Hex and Ginger secret, when I’m not running a stationery shop I’m actually a graphic and digital designer. Dot grid actually helps me massively when I have to design websites or emails, as it means I can quickly wireframe without having to put my laptop on!

This is particularly useful if I’m in a meeting with a client and we’re discussing ideas, as it means I can show them something right there.

In short, the uses of dot grid paper are endless, which is why ours have proven popular with our fans – and they are pretty neat, if I do say so myself!

Hex and Ginger are giving away one of our PU leather dot grid notebooks (see end of post)! If you’re not a lucky winner, we are also giving all of A Cornish Geek’s followers 15% off our site www.hexandginger.com Use the discount code 15CORNISH at checkout.

Happy dot gridding!

Chantelle,
Hex and Ginger
