We made it! We survived the most depressing month of the year. I might not have done too well on the old resolutions (does one bath cut short by a screaming baby count as self-care?) but there’s still 11 months … Continue reading
If there’s one thing you can count on, it’s Cornish summer rain! Make sure you’re not stuck without something fun to watch with the Zavvi sale. There’s plenty of bargains to be had, whether you’re looking for beautiful steelbooks (The … Continue reading
Ooh, I do love me a good steelbook and the (August) release of Batman v Superman is perfect. Check out the reversible cover featuring the awesome teaser posters. Awesome, right! The epic three-disc ultra edition is £22.99 and features 30 … Continue reading
We missed The Hateful Eight in cinemas (boo – another perk of parenthood!) and I can’t wait to catch it on DVD. When you know a film is a good ‘un, you’ve gotta go for a steelbook bluray. This bad … Continue reading
Last week I shared Jenson’s Christmas list and this week I’m sharing my growing list/Pinterest board. My birthday is two months away and Luke, the lovely boyfriend that he is, has already started shopping, so I’m not being that much of an eager beaver by putting together a Pinterest list of favourites for friends and family. It’s also a handy bookmark for new year sales, as it’s all bound to be reduced! Here are some of the highlights…

I don’t buy a lot of DVDs these days (I used to be quite addicted – we have about 1,000) but when I do I’m all about the steelbook blurays. And why wouldn’t I be? They’re a bit special and … Continue reading
Steelbook editions can make otherwise unappealing films suddenly very attractive. It pains me to say this, as a film geek, that I have never seen the original Star Wars trilogy. Don’t worry, I plan on rectifying this before the release … Continue reading
I still haven’t seen Sin City 2 but the first is one of my all-time fave films. Amazon has a cracking Ultimate Killer Edition for £32.50, complete with two-disc blurays of each film, two posters, a road sign, playing cards … Continue reading
The Boyfriend and I are both Batman fans but we have to agree to disagree when it comes to the 1960s TV show. It was a pre-school staple in my house growing up – my brother and I watched it … Continue reading
I love steelbooks. Given the option, if I’m buying a new release, I’ll get the super-duper, super-sexy bluray steelbook every time. If you plan on owning a film, you might as well go for the best version going. Plus the steelbooks look so damn awesome if (like me) you choose to make your DVD collection a ‘feature’ in your living room. Zavvi have several hundred steelbooks in their collection and I’ve managed to whittle them down to a top ten list – based solely on the beauty of the items. You didn’t think this would be based on the quality of the films now, did you? Again, in no particular order…
Which one’s your favourite? I want the Sin City one sooo bad!
